Life's Good

I've been patiently waiting for the sales on TVs during the President's Day Sales. I can't believe I have been squinting my eyes trying to watch a 13" screen TV in my bedroom for 30 years! Well, these eyes of mine couldn't handle it anymore so I took the plunge.

Wow, I'm impressed with the slick and simple design which is a pleasure to say goodbye to the bulk old TVs. It's hard to imagine there is still more room for improvement with today's picture quality. The resolution is unbelievable. I'm extremely pleased with my decision to purchase an LG.........Life's Good!

My TV is actually a gift from my children. I received monetary gifts from them at Christmas time, as they knew I wanted a new TV. We live in different states and they wanted me to select my preference in a TV. Someone told me to wait until after the Superbowl game and another said to wait until President's Day for an even better sale. It was well worth the wait.

I got a 32" inch with a built in DVD player and I'm thrilled with it. I'm sure the Marilyn Monroe's of today are not pleased with the new technology because it shows every flaw, pimple, blackhead, vein on a person's face..........Yikes.........talk about clarity and great resolution! Unbelievable! I got free S&H and a good $100. off the original price.

I did pull my back out taking the TV out of the double reinforced box it was shipped in within two (2) days! I did have to attach the TV to the swivel stand it came with which is a nice added feature. Not easy trying to put something together all by yourself when the size is big and awkward for one person to handle! It was worth watching HSN that day! I missed the crowds in the store, I didn't have to lug and carry this huge box home and I didn't have to pay for delivery.

Well, I felt like I was at the Movies tonight watching a big screen. The only thing missing was the popcorn!

A special thank you to my wonderful children for such a lovely gift.

The only thing that spoiled my excitement of my new TV was that I thought I'd give my old small TV to the maintenance man here in my condo. He can barely speak English and he was so delighted to be able to take this TV home. It made me happy to make someone else happy.

Well, we have a Bullie here as the President of our Association, you know those "Condo Commandos"....Oh and by the way, he is a snowbird too. He screamed and hollered at the meek poor guy in his late fifties I'd say, that he took the time to walk up my stairs and take the TV and put it in his car. The guy later knocked on my door and said the Bullie fired him. I was livid! The Bullie said he should have waited until 4:00 PM when he was off work to put the TV in his car. Oh, dear Lord, it took him less than five minutes to do this. What was the big deal.

I wrote to the Board Members, the management company, personally spoke to the subcontractor that this poor guy works for, also wrote to the Tallahassee Condo Associations of Regulations.........you name it, I wrote to them........next was going to be a letter to Channel5 and even Oprah! This big buffoon needs a "Cousin Vinnie" to pay him a visit! You know what I mean? This moron yells and swears at everyone even the ladies. I've experienced his razor tongue last year. I'm not afraid of him, he just makes my blood pressure rise and he is not worth getting sick over. I don't want a heart attack over an idiot.

I did vomit from nerves because I was so upset over this poor man Juan that lost his job! I'm a unit owner, therefore this maintenance man, legally works for me as well.....we all pay for his paycheck, so who is this Bullie to fire him because he took all of 5 minutes to put a tiny TV in his car that I gave to him..........It took the pleasure out of watching my brand new TV tonight because I couldn't get this incident out of my head. It will rent space in my head until I can help this poor man get his job back.

The Bullie said that he should have taken the TV after he was through working at 4:00 PM. Poor Juan told me that he asked the Bullie for permission first beforehand............so go figure...........Why do people spend precious hours of their life making others miserable? All that energy can go to good instead of evil.

Mind you, this Bullie is in his late 60s and about 6 ft 4" tall. There were always Bullies in school when we were young but as adults???...........this is ridiculous!
I believe in Karma and I hope what comes around goes around for him.

My husband used to be President of this Association before he passed away and he was a kind, wonderful, perfect, gentleman. So, for all the Bullies out in this world, I hope there is a "Cousin Vinnie" around to knock your teeth out!

  1. love your new tv! $100. off sounds great.
nice of you to give the old one to your maintenace man, sorry to hear he lost his job over it! make sure you cont to fight for him to get it back! that was not right, after all he was assisting you by removing the old tv :). take it all the way to the top if you have too, even let your newspaper & tv station know. they usually have a human interest reporter. try channel 5.
will send a prayer for this man, that he lands back on his feet.

  2. I hope the man gets his job back and that the bully gets sacked. He has no business being in a position like that. Good for you sticking up for him. Who would have that something like that would become such an issue.

    Take care,
    'On Ya'-ma

  3. Love your TV. It looks great. I still cannot believe how that man behaved. He is abusing his authority and that needs to be stopped. Life it tough enough today let alone have some self centered, arogant, SOB take advanatage of someone just doing his job.
I too will join Sugar in a prayer for this poor man who was so wrongly treated. This poor man was fired for doing something nice for somebody. What is wrong with that picture?????

  4. This is a great but sad entry. Most of us just love an underdog. I have dispised bullies all my life. Early I had occasion to be bullied. Great on the letters. I find that sometimes they work. Funny I am enjoying writing a book about a man who has a small organization that cuts bullies down to size, your cousin Vinnie organized for good. ha!
But an incident like that just knocks the props out from under you. There is just no cure for "Stupidity." YOu got me wanting to write him a letter.
Try to relax and enjoy the TV, you are right what goes around, comes around.

  5. Congrats on the TV! in the meantime if you need back up with the bully, call me. what a sham! i hope the bully loses his job after you finish with him. kudos to you for standing up for Juan. hugz~kbear

  6. You know what is sad? That even if Juan gets his job back, "bully" will make him more miserable! Too bad a "snowbird" is even allowed to be President of the community.

They should be there full time or most of the year. I would love to see him miss a couple of meetings and then get tossed for it! There are only a certain number of Board meetings that they are allow to miss, unless that has changed.

You might want to inquire about that. I know that there is a gentleman at the Sun-Sentinel that writes about things of this nature.

Love alli. Enjoy the plasma - I too have a 32" in my bedroom now!

  7. aww this just makes me sad. I cannot believe that bully fired the maintenance man! I would definitely try to get the bully fired!!! Call the local TV station and have them do a story on it, if anything it could help the maintenance guy get a new job if he doesnt get hired back. Also help Juan by writing a letter to create a paper trail. You could also type up a letter from him, for him to sign to send to the board members.

Dont let this incident make you feel bad about your TV though, you arent the one who did anything wrong. I need a TV like that!

  8. I know you'll enjoy your new TV. We've had ours about 2 years now, and it's so great for watching movies and sports! But you're right...it shows everything!

As for Juan and the Bully...I'd become a letter-writing fool! I would do my damnedest to make sure that jerk doesn't get away with this. Good luck, and keep us posted!

    Hugs, Beth

  9. what goes around, comes around rose.people like him make me sick.take care.love mort xxx

  10. Perhaps you can work with the board to get the president removed, and then hire Juan back.

  11. I sure hope the maintenance man gets his job back. Don't worry about the bully, I'm a big believer in Karma!

  12. Although I am sure the universe will eventually take care of the Bully... I hope that you are able to get him fired and Juan re-hired. Don't give up, you have right on YOUR side!!

  13. Aww you are so caring Rose. But here's the thing, it could just be that your maintenance mans next job is the best one of his life. Sometimes negatives happen in order to usher in the good things. If you're trying to help him, he knows that and already you've changed his life by caring. I hope the bully is fired, the maintenance guy is re-hired! Will be crossing my fingers for this to happen and praying!

  14. Your bully story makes me second guess my running for a position on my condo board...oh oh...

  15. Love your new TV Rose.

I'm sorry your great day had to end
    on a bad note.

The President will get his one day.
He shouldn't be in that position
since he is not there full time.
    Take care Janice

I will pray that Juan gets an even
    better job.

  16. Aww...what a crumb. You give these assholes a poistion and it goes to their head. They strut around like PEACOCKS. You need to go to the news and have a few feathers plucked. What a jerk.
I'd be your cousin Vinnie if I were there. LOL... you know I would.
Congrats! on the new TV. Hey would your kids like to adopt an Aunt.LOL

  17. Hi Rose,
I can't believe that someone in today's economy would be so cold, so harsh -- such a bully, as you say -- to fire someone over something like this. If you're up for it, I think you should rally the other condo owners to speak out, get this guy his job back and impeach the bully. Afterall, theoretically, the bully is supposed to be working for you, too and I'm willing to bet that his actions are NOT speaking on behalf of his fellow residents. This guy needs to be held accountable for his actions.

  18. Rose: Read your story here and really am happy you have such a beautiful tv. Those flat screens are a must once you have seen one.
Too bad about that condo commander-perhaps your brother in the North End might know someone who on his vacation might pay a "visit" to the condo commander. Maybe just a way to see the other pint of view. I hear there are a few of these visitors who go to Florida for a vacation. They like to keep in shape you know. How about having everyone in the complex sign a petition to have Juan reinstated and present it to the condo commanders boss. Sometimes that works.
On the other front Sandy (my fiancee) could not think of that restaurant that both of use could not come up with in the North End. However, we will keep working on it and if we think of it will drop you an email.
I'm sure your day will be warm while we are expecting rain about noon and then by evening turning over to (ugh!) snow, But supposely only an inch or snow.
    Enjoy that tv.
    Arthur Buonopane

  19. Bullie sounds like he needs to have his ass kicked! Don't worry though, what goes around comes around and he'll have a need one day and no one will be there to give him a hand.

    Congrats on the new TV.

  20. Think how good you will feel if your letters help get Juan his job back. Keep writing until they do. Keep up the pressure

  21. Thanks for visiting my blog and for following it. :)

I'm glad you got a new tv. But I really hate it for your maintenance man. I hope you can help him get his job back. Your neighbor sounds like a real jerk!

  22. I'm glad you finally got your new tv. It looks great!

I feel so bad for that maintenance guy. I don't think the president of the condo association had the authority to fire the guy. That jerk snowbird should fly back to NY.

    Enjoy the new tv.

P.S. I knew you would be my first "follower" on my snowmobile blog. ;)

  23. So happy you got your new tv. Obviously you have great kids. As for the poor guy who got fired? That happens way too much these days. He is blessed to have somebody like you care; too often people don't.
