Valentine's Day is approaching and with all forms of glee, bliss, and even annoyance. The feel-good day for lovers is also a field day for florists, chocolatiers, Hallmark and jewelry stores, as for me....it was my wedding anniversary! I now consider it just "another" day with fond memories!
Compatibility means a lot more than liking the same movies, sports, food or flavor of ice cream. It also means being able to successfully talk about and manage your finances. How to raise your children, religion matters to many. It is more than just hugs and kisses especially when you are very young!
I believe in love.........always did. I even believe in love at first sight. Can you imagine going about your daily routine of things and just out of the blue you randomly catch eyes with a total stranger, fall in love and start a life together. Well, that sorta happened to me with the exception I was introduced to my man and it was love at first site for both of us without even exchanging any words yet!
I was 52 years old and divorced and I think by that age, you definitely know what you DON'T want! Unfortunately for me, my husband passed away after only 3 1/2 years of marriage.
I still believe in love............do you?
Yes, I do believe for sure. I had the wonderful blessing of being married for 27 years to a wonderful man that I loved. I guess he is my one and only as I've never met any one else. Good memories of our time together have to make do now, and my Valentines are my family and friends.
ReplyDeleteYes, I still believe in love. I was 48 when I married my beloved four and half years ago. It was Valentine's weekend when Mark asked me to marry him. And though we are half a world apart (he's in Afghanistan) he is in my heart and I am in his.
ReplyDeleteAin't love grand :)
So do I !!!

yes, yes! Wow Rose, what a heart felt entry.
ReplyDeleteBrings back so many memories. My first sight of Sherry was love, I think(but I was a 16 yr old kid). She for me was not. But it worked out.
In my new book I have a character (combo of me and my son called J) he falls in love with a cowgirl, love at first sight. Thanks for reafirming that belief I have in true love at first sight.
Before I came to your blog today, Sherry (at her computer across the table) said,"Have you read Rose yet?" She looked sorta teary eyed, I knew it would be good.
LOve you and the Blog.

ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for the bit of history. Sad it was such a short time, but glad it was good.

Have a good night.

ReplyDeleteHi Rose,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your blog---Valentine's Day is definitely beautiful and...
definitely tough on those without a sweetie.
I knew you lost your husband, too, but did not realize it was such a short marriage. Mine was for almost 7 years.
Tough, sister!
Well, here's a toast to YOU---Happy pre-Valentine's Day! P.S. It's a Sunday night---what are your plans?
Hugs,
Deby
Happy Valentines Day to you too. You are really good at this stuff. I'll bet its hard to do, is it? You need to get over here to St. Pete and give Janice and I some lessons. Ha. Talk to you.

Valentines Day is always fun and I really enjoy watching the ladies reactions to their admirer's gifts and cards.

When ever I think of love , I think of the words by Kahil Gibran,
ReplyDelete" if all that you seek is loves joys and loves pleasures, you will enter the season-less world where you will laugh but not all of your laughter and weep but not all of your tears". This, to me, applies to all types of love, be it to a mate, a child , a family member, or a dear friend. when you truly love, it holds up through every thing.Opening our heart and letting love in helps to make us more complete..ac
Yes, I believe in love....I think it grows stronger with time.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing quite like it.
If you don't find it the first or second time try try again.
xox, Cassie
I'm so glad you found your happily ever after! Love is impossible to define because it's so different for each person. Life is impossible too -- which is why life and love will always go hand in hand. Hapy V Day!

P.S. Thanks for mentioning Hallmark!
So sorry for your loss, Rose. I think it is wonderful that you continue to believe in love. At 56, I'm afraid I would throw in the towel on romantic love if my husband (of 30 years) died. It is refreshing to read posts like this one that celebrates love - at any time in the lifespan.
